THE South African Schools Football Association (Sasfa), an associate member of Safa, took a resolution to fast-track youth development this weekend.
Speaking during its annual general meeting, president Mandla "Shoes" Mazibuko said Sasfa would accelerate the development of schools football through collaboration with stakeholders such as football legends, the government, Safa and the corporate world.
"We believe that this will help to shape the style of play in the country at a tender age," he said.
"We will also re-train officials through coaching, administration and refereeing workshops."
Mazibuko said they would create platforms for the recruitment of more girls, who will play in regular leagues, and raise the profile of girl's football.
"The only formal avenue where the girl child participates in organised football is through the government-funded Winter Ball Games and in the My 2010 School Adventure."
