FESTIVAL FUN FOR IITH YEAR

WHEN many people head for the acclaimed Cape Town International Jazz Festival others will be off to Northern Cape for the Diamonds and Dorings Festival.

The annual event, which features gospel music, comedy, jazz and DJs, will take place during the Easter weekend in Kimberley. The festivities will be presented at various venues around Kimberley from March 31.

Starting the exciting Kimberley programme is a Comedy Show on Wednesday March 31 at the City Hall, Old De Beers Road.

The show features comedians such as Hotshot Ronnie Modimolla, Dennis Roro and Kegomoditswe.

The trio will really tickle your funny bone with hilarious skits and jokes. Tickets for the do cost R60 and the event starts at 6pm.

On April 1 there will be a big gospel show at the Open Air Arena in Hulana Street, Galeshewe.

Musicians such as Hlengiwe, Grace Gomolemo, Ntsiki, Ntlo Ya Modimo, Somnandi and M-Siya will entertain music fans. The gates will be open at 3pm and you pay R30 to enjoy the fun.

On Saturday April DJs will spin the discs, with up-and-coming DJs being given a platform to shine. The doors open at 8pm and tickets cost R50.

The main event will take place on Sunday April 4 at the Diskobolos Army Sports Grounds next to Kimberley Airport.

Musicians such as Hugh Masekela, Sipho Mabuse, Tshepo Tshola, Thandiswa, Malaika, Theo Kgosinkwe, the Jaziel Brothers, HHP and Dr Victor, Rasta Rebels, Kaya, TeeKay, Mbombela, Ditso and Ke Mona Sereisho will perform Tickets costs R120.
