"I want to run until the day I die," said Sylvia Tshetlanyane yesterday, hours before jetting off to Poland for a prestigious cross-country championship.

Sylvia, 17, and and Thato Makhafola, 15, both Grade 10 pupils at Hoërskool Monument in Krugersdorp, will represent South Africa in the 38th IAAF Cross Country Championships in Bydgoszcz this weekend.

The two girls said they were drawn to cross-country running by its competitiveness. - Namhla Tshisela
