KWAITO star and TKZee member Kabelo Mabalane is spreading his wings to television.

Mabalane, aka Bouga Luv, will present SABC2's variety sport and lifestyle talk show Sportnite from April 9. The show will be flighted on Fridays at 9.30pm.

The show aims to inspire and motivate viewers with topical sports debates and relevant features by covering the results of the week, giving the behind-the-scenes of the sporting world and focusing on coming matches from soccer rugby and cricket to athletics.

SABC2 publicist Caroline Phalakatshela said: "The Friday 9.30pm time slot is best known for flighting hilarious comedies, and now with the sports show it will allow the audience to know their favourite sporting heroes."

A thrilled Mabalane said: "I am very excited and I have a good team around me. I believe that in the entertainment industry one must explore all avenues. I like the show because I am passionate about sport."

The studio guests will include prominent sports personalities such as Neil Tovey, Hezekiel Sepeng, Mark Fish, Makhaya Ntini, Aaron Mokoena, Bryan Habana, Khotso Mokoena and former Bafana Bafana captain Lucas Radebe.

Phalakatshela said the show would also give lesser-known sports a platform to be recognised as well as growing and developing upcoming sports.

Each episode will have a Soccer World Cup update, news updates, three guests, a studio audience, a live band and a viewer's competition.

Mabalane is a successful kwaito star and has released six albums.

These are Pantsula 4 Life, Rebel With A Cause, And the Beat Goes On, Bouga Luv, Exodus and I'm A King.

In 2005 he co-founded Groove Luv Records with producer D-Rex. He also owns Faith Records, which produced artists such as Martin Phike and Howza.

He has competed twice in the Comrades Marathon.
