ADIDAS has roped in sports legends, including Edward Motale and Baby Jake Matlala, in their campaign to galvanise support for Bafana Bafana ahead of the 2010 Fifa World Cup.

The duo will be joined by a host of other celebrities from other sectors to sign a message of support for the team on the giant Bafana Bafana jersey at Maponya Mall on Friday.

The giant jersey has been taken to various parts of South Africa since last November as part of the "Unite Mzansi Unite" campaign.

Other celebrities expected to be part of the campaign include Generations stars Sophie Ndaba and Sonia Sedibe, Scandal actress Nthati Moshesh, as well as musicians Arthur Mafokate and Chomee. Orlando Pirates legends - including Bernard Lushozi, Mandla Sithole, Johnny Masegela, Ernest Makhanya and Edison Sithole - will also be there.

"Our campaign is about reaching as many South Africans as possible to ensure that everyone supports the World Cup and our team by wearing yellow," said Adidas spokesperson Zobuzwe Ngobese.

"So this coming Football Friday will be very special as we have invited our South African celebrities to join the people of Soweto when they sign the giant jersey.

"To further engage the football supporters, Adidas has planned three-a-side football games for celebrities and members of the public."

The German sports apparel company also has former professional player Mike "Nanana" Ntombela working on their Bafana Bafana technical sponsorship account.
