ESIPHEZI Chief in Eshowe, Lilly Mpungose, will meet disgruntled community members who boycotted the opening ceremony of the Thokomala Cunina Orphanage over jobs grievances.

The boycott led to the permanent delay of the opening of the home for 30 orphans as the project funders feared for the safety of caregivers and the children.

Local councillor Mbongeni Dludla confirmed that a date for the meeting had been set up by the chief after a meeting with the area's headman Simon Ngema.

"The chief set March 22 for the meeting with the community to resolve the disputes over Thokomala children's home," said Dludla.

Thokomala manager Antje Hockly said they have been in contact with Ngema who informed them of the scheduled meeting.

HIV-Aids general manager from the premier's office Fikile Ndlovu said they were aware of the meeting and have appointed an on-sight manager who will act as a mentor to the centre managers during the meeting.

"We want this matter resolved as soon as possible," said Ndlovu.
