LEGENDARY singer and composer Caiphus Semenya will shoot a DVD at Carnival City in Brakpan, Gauteng, on April 24.
The seasoned musician will take fans down memory lane with his hit songs, Woman Got A Right To Be, Ziph'inkomo, Semenya, Matswale, Angelina and Nomalanga, among others.
Semenya, who celebrated his 70th birthday last year will be joined by Sama nominee Thandiswa Mazwai, who will also be recording her live DVD. Afro-pop singer Theo Kgosinkwe will provide the curtain-raiser.
The concert will see Semenya and Mazwai perform with their talented bands.
With his energetic stage performance, Semenya will keep the audience on their feet all night.
The veteran singer is one of the country's foremost musicians and arrangers. His credits in the industry include music scores for Molo Fish, Vicious Circle and Gaba Mootho.
Semenya left South Africa in the 1960's with his singer-wife Letta Mbulu and worked in exile with other great South African artists such as Hugh Masekela, Jonas Gwangwa and Miriam Makeba.
Having distinguished himself as one of the best local composers, some of his compositions have been performed by Harry Belafonte, the Crusaders, Lou Rawls, Quincy Jones and Nina Simone.
