ANC stalwart Winnie Madikizela-Mandela told mourners at the funeral of late activist Fatima Meer in Durban on Saturday that she was drained from the attention following reports that she berated her former husband Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
She said the interview with journalist Nadira Naipaul, which recently made headlines, had not occurred.
"I did not give Ms Naipaul an interview," she said.
"It is therefore not necessary for me to respond to the contents of a fabricated interview."
She said she appreciated the fact that the ANC was willing to listen to her version of events before making a judgment.
