DURBAN International Convention Centre CEO Miller Matola has resigned to take up a similar position at the International Marketing Council.

DURBAN International Convention Centre CEO Miller Matola has resigned to take up a similar position at the International Marketing Council.

He will take up his new position in July.

"Leaving was not something I anticipated, but an opportunity to make a contribution to nation branding was an opportunity I could not decline.

"I leave knowing that the ICC is in capable hands and believe that we are positioned to deliver against our strategic goals," Matola said yesterday.

He was confident that the team would maintain the momentum and future business growth of the ICC.

ICC board chairperson Mato Madlala said: "Miller took on an incredible challenge in working to increase international business.

"His vision, dedication and industry expertise have contributed to the positive growth in the business. During his tenure, we have seen huge growth in revenues, which resulted in the ICC achieving its ultimate goal of being self-sustaining."

Matola has also been successful in the market development of the Arena, which has become one of the hubs of the entertainment industry.
