THE division of dramatic arts at Wits University has captured many people's imagination with its muchanticipated 2010 Drama for Life arts festival titled Sex Actuality: The 2010 Drama For Life Festival.

Drama for Life is a holistic arts programme hosted by Wits drama students. The festival, which takes place across three cities in South Africa, will be staged in Johannesburg from August 21 to 29, and will be in Cape Town and Durban in September.

Since its inception the Drama for Life Festival has offered a central hub for people working in the field of applied drama and theatre in the context of HIV-Aids.

This year's theme focuses on renewed efforts to find creative and sustainable ways of learning and building capacity in HIV-Aids education and prevention.

This highly interactive and informative festival will see a meeting of artists, researchers, development workers, trainers, theatre, music, art, dance and health practitioners from all sectors of the community engaging in dialogue, networking, learning and sharing.

Applications are invited for performances portraying the theme and tying in with the aims of the collective efforts of the festival.

The diversity of both participants and audiences will provide an array of exciting and stimulating workshops, seminars, and exhibitions. This will give participants an opportunity to fully explore themes relating to HIV-Aids in an honest, supportive and caring environment.

The festival seeks to be all-inclusive and accessible, and is made possible by the support of GTZ, the Goethe-Institute, DED, NRF, Make Art-Stop Aids, and the Wits School of the Arts.
