TWO PEOPLE died and 12 others were seriously injured in separate road accidents in KwaZulu-Natal yesterday.
On the N3 northbound Town Hill, the driver of a bakkie suffered a cardiac arrest and lost control of the vehicle. It overturned, killing one person.
In another incident, a woman was killed after she was struck by a bakkie while crossing the KwaMashu highway near Duff's Road.
Eleven people were injured, three seriously, when a minibus taxi they were travelling in collided with a car in central Durban yesterday morning.
Netcare 911 paramedics said the driver of the car, who was travelling on Stanger Street, had tried to make a U-turn at the junction, pulling in front of the taxi.
"The taxi driver was unable to stop in time and slammed into the car. The injured passengers were treated and stabilised at the scene by paramedics before they were taken to city hospitals for further care," said Netcare spokesperson Jeff Wicks.
And a traffic officer is fighting for her life after she was hit by a car on the N3 Durban- bound carriageway , transport spokesperson Zinhle Mngo- mezulu said yesterday.
"She was stopping a speeding vehicle and the car immediately behind it hit her."
