hoskins reign under threat

MARK Alexander will oppose South African Rugby Union president Oregan Hoskins at the annual general council meeting at the Southern Sun Hotel in Newlands, Cape Town, on March 26.

Alexander, the current deputy president, was again nominated for the post in the nominations received and announced by Saru on Saturday. Also nominated for the position of deputy president are Dr Jan Marais, Hein Mentz, Rautie Rautenbach and Tobie Titus.

Marais and incumbent Rautenbach are also in the running for the post of vice president, with Dawie Groenewald and James Stoffberg.

The four Executive Council spots will be contested by Altmann Allers, Francois Davids, Boet Fick, Groenewald, Peter Hassard, Marais, Stoffberg and Sampie Pienaar.

The meeting will start at 9am. - Sapa
