CELIWE Mbokazi' 's reason for killing her tourism mogul husband Franz Richter will remain her secret.
The 36-year-old denied l that she was involved in the murder but was found guilty yesterday.
Mbokazi, who affectionately called her husband mkhulu - grandfather - told Sowetan before her conviction that she could not believe she was on trial for killing him.
"I loved him so much nothing would have made me kill him. We have been together for more than 20 years. I was only 15 when we became lovers," Mbokazi said.
"We have been through a lot as a couple but I never thought of hurting him and I know he never thought of hurting me as well,"
She said that at one stage she became pregnant with Ronnie Khumalo's baby - her lover who was found not guilty and discharged on Wednesday.
"Mkhulu got angry but he forgave me. That's how he was. He would be angry one minute and fine the next," Mbokazi said.
She said she regretted her decision to have an affair with Khumalo.
"I was forced by circumstances. Mkhulu and I were not having sex because he was ill and had no desire. I was tempted to have someone on the side but unfortunately I got pregnant," she said.
Mbokazi, originally from Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal, said she hated Khumalo for getting her into trouble.
"I am now accused of making phone calls to people I have never met. It is all because of him. He is the one who used my cellphone and land line to call his friends."
