Why was Mdluli not vetted?

I refer to the article Mayor's case on hold of February 18 written by Alfred Moselakgomo.

I refer to the article Mayor's case on hold of February 18 written by Alfred Moselakgomo.

I strongly feel that the headline should have been written correctly as follow: A fraud case against former Gert Sibande executive mayor-cum-director community service of Victor local municipality in Delmas has been placed on hold (sic).

But let me give you my personal view on this and other related matters.

The government has policies in place that guide spheres of government in relation to employment-recruitment of staff, particularly those who are appointed as senior managers and directors and who are working with finance in income and expenditure sections.

One would like to know why the incumbent, Busi Mdluli, was not vetted before she was appointed to this senior position.

That municipality is an Economic Growth Opportunity hub with Kusile, Eskom power station, coal mines, slica Mine and Nkangala Cargo Airport, just to mention a few.

I don't think the municipality would have appointed Mdluli had it been informed about the pending case.

It is rumoured that few senior ANC councillors were aware of it but were afraid to raise the matter with the ANC provincial deployment committee since Mdluli has connections there.

Since her appointment the level of discipline is low. The rubbish is not collected regularly and illegal dumping is prevalent.

Mandla Mahlangu,
