KWAZULU-NATAL'S commercial radio station, iGagasi 99.5 FM, is upbeat that it will soon reach the 2 million listenership mark.

The four-year-old station has now 1,9 million followers.

Station management yesterday unveiled the new staff line-up they said would help them achieve their goal.

The new additions to iGagasi FM yesterday paraded Archie "Sizanani" Majola and Vusi Letsoalo as their new draw cards.

Majola is a former East Coast radio host, where his contract was not renewed. Letsoalo had previously worked for Metro FM and P4 radio before disappearing from the airwaves.

Majola takes over the afternoon drive slot from Makhosi Khoza and Thandolethu, while Letsoalo will be heard on Sundays.

The new line-up is scheduled to start on the air from March 1. A number of presenters like Carol Zungu, Brain Thabethe and Nada Ngidi did not make it on the new line-up while, Mzokologo has been shifted to the midday slot from 12pm to 15pm weekdays.

Acting station manager Rene Schute said: "With this new line-up we seek to improve listenership. And we want to remain the popular station in the province and are positive we will soon reach our target," she said.

Majolo promised flair in his slot. He said the new job was a dream come true.
