Carnell back for Bafana

LEFT-BACK Bradley Carnell has been thrown a World Cup lifeline after being included in the Bafana Bafana team to play Namibia on Wednesday night.

LEFT-BACK Bradley Carnell has been thrown a World Cup lifeline after being included in the Bafana Bafana team to play Namibia on Wednesday night.

The former Bidvest Wits and Kaizer Chiefs player is one of three overseas-based players in the squad for the match at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. The others are Bryce Moon and Bevan Fransman.

The injury-prone Carnell last featured for Bafana during the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Equatorial Guinea in October 2008.

Also back in the Bafana set-up is Mamelodi Sundowns star Lebohang Mokoena, who has been in a class of his own since relocating to Chloorkop from Orlando Pirates.

"I recalled Carnell, Bryce Moon and Fransman to have a look at them under competitive match conditions. We are looking forward to a good game against Namibia," said Bafana coach Carlos Alberto Perreira.

l Bafana will play Denmark at home in their final warm-up friendly on June 5.
