ANC approves new SAA boss

THE ANC has welcomed the appointment of Siza Mzimela as chief executive officer of the South African Airways, claiming the move would restore stability at the national carrier.

THE ANC has welcomed the appointment of Siza Mzimela as chief executive officer of the South African Airways, claiming the move would restore stability at the national carrier.

SAA has been without a CEO for a year since the departure of Khaya Ngqula.

"In line with our objectives of creating a nonsexist and gender-sensitive society, we welcome Siza's appointment as the first woman to head the SAA," the ANC said yesterday.

The party said filling of senior management positions, especially at CEO level, was crucial for any organisation's stability.

The ANC said it was concerned about the leadership vacuum at senior management level in some of South Africa's state-owned enterprises, which play a strategic role in the country's economic growth.
