ONE of the men arrested for the murder of Lethabong businesswoman Mirriam Khoza and her four relatives is still at large after escaping from prison, North West police said yesterday.
Superintendent Lesego Metsi said Goodboy Mabaso was still on the run after his escape from the Bethani police station near Rustenburg on February 13.
"Mabaso and his brother, Sibongile, and with five other men awaiting trial broke through the ceiling and cut the bars of the exercise area of their cell."
Sibongile, 27, and another escapee were arrested in Katlehong in Ekurhuleni last week after a tip-off about their whereabouts.
He was expected to appear in the Rustenburg magistrate's court today on a charge of escaping from lawful custody.
Sibongile and his brother Goodboy, 34, Thabo Dikane, 18, Barnard Dikane, 30, and a 17-year-old boy were arrested on December 27 last year for the murder of Khoza, 46, her children Karabo, 18, and Tsaona, 16, her brother-in-law Daniel Karshia, 46, and her nephew Nadir Khoza, 14.
They were found murdered at her home in Lethabong outside Rustenburg on Christmas day. - Sapa
