The CHE is planning a large-scale survey of law professionals and those who employ them as part of a project to investigate the effectiveness of the LLB degree.
The Law Curriculum Project will investigate what law graduates learned during their studies and the extent to which they were prepared for their different career paths. These includes reviews of research into law education, interviews with key stakeholders and an electronic survey of law professionals, employers and academics in university law faculties.
The CHE was approached by the South African Law Deans Association and asked to undertake this research in order to improve legal education.
The electronic survey will take place early this year and the results of the research are expected to be announced later this year.
Individuals and organisations that have a stake in legal education can register their interest in the project on the CHE website at www.che.ac.za.
The Law Society of South Africa has welcomed the investigation.
