THE recalled executive mayor of Mkhondo municipality, Mary Khumalo, and five other councillors were finally served with charges by the municipality.
The six were recalled after service delivery protests by members of the community . Municipal officials visited their houses on Friday to serve them with the charges.
Sowetan has, however, established that Khumalo refused to sign the charge sheet or to acknowledge it.
The others - Philile Malinga, André Vorster, Oscar Nkosi, Joshua Nkosi and JJ Mthethwa - did sign.
The charges against Khumalo include that she used the municipality's credit card to purchase personal items amounting to R10583.
Khumalo is also charged with the alleged misuse of municipal vehicles for her own personal gain, among other things.
The charges against the others include their involvement in the illegal allocation of RDP stands.
