TOP South African middle- distance runner Tshamano Setone put on a great show to win the 5000m event during the Yellow Pages Series in Port Elizabeth on Friday night.
Setone showed up University Sport South Africa national champion and World Student Games bronze medallist Elroy Gelant to win in a superb 13min:25,51sec.
Gelant was second in 13:25,88, with 10km and half marathon champion Stephen Mokoka settling for third in a time of 13:27,22.
Setone, who like Mokoka is also doing well on the road, said: "It was an incredible race, one of the best I've run in a long time."
Mokoka said: "I used it as part of my preparations for the Southern Africa Cross Country Championships in Seychelles on Saturday.
"I want to do well in the Seychelles ahead of the World Cross Country Championships in Poland next month."
In the sprint events, Port Elizabeth resident Leigh Julius clocked 10,61 seconds to narrowly defeat Thuso Mpuang in the 100m.
But they swapped positions in the 200m, which Mpuang won in 21,11.
Former World Championships finalist Robert Oosthuizen qualified for the Commonwealth Games with an A-qualifying distance of 82,96m in the men's javelin.
Lebo Phalula was in a class of her own, setting a personal best time of 15:48,45 in the women's 5000m, beating twin sister Lebogang (16:06,14).
National 3000m steeplechase record holder Tebogo Masehla easily won her speciality event in 10:10,14, with Myrette Filmalter (10:31,51) second.
