A LIMPOPO government spokes-person has become the toast of his community after releasing a danceable album.
Tumelo Malaka, affectionately known to his fans as Khekhoto Butsetsa, has released an eight-track album that is poised to leave revellers in shebeens, pubs and weddings in Limpopo gasping with anticipation for more this Easter Holidays.
The album was released on Wednesday last week under Ishmo Production in Tzaneen and is titled Khekhoto-a Khelovedu, which loosely translated means bums.
The album consists of hit tracks such as Bakery, Modjadji, Donkey Molla Patene, Lena Dzweni, Monjikidido and Sgubugubu.
"I have always wanted to dish out an exuberant album that poses as an entertainer, communicator and an educator for young and old people," says Malaka, who also works at the Mopani district municipality in Giyani as community liaison officer.
Malaka says the album has already made waves at local gigs since the launch on Wednesday and at local radio stations around Limpopo.
The album has sweet melodies that resemble the refreshing cries of a variety of beautiful birds welcoming tourists to the heart of the Kruger National Park on a sunny Sunday afternoon.
The album also contains tracks that propel kwasakwasa dancers and mapantsulas that are embedded in the heart of Limpopo to sweat it out when everyone competes for a space on the dance floor to show what he or she is made off.
"I have spent six months working on the album so it could stand the test of the dog-eat-dog music industry," Malaka says.
"Thanks to my wife Molebatji Ledwaba and the rest of my family for the support they gave to me. Without them all this would have turned out to be a flop."
Malaka sprang to stardom in 2000 when his seven 11 (Open Mouth) landed him a job at Thobela FM, an SABC provincial Sesotho radio station, as DJ.
His communication skills and knowledge of thw Khelovedu language later saw him being recruited by the Mopani district municipality to work as community liaison officer.
Because his first love was radio, Malaka continued to work at the Sekhosese Community Radio Station as DJ.
