Madiba fever hits the Net

NELSON Mandela fever took over social network sites yesterday.

NELSON Mandela fever took over social network sites yesterday.

Mandelamania invaded the web as a nation celebrated 20 years of Mandela's release from prison.

Online users shared their "Mandela moments" and their favourite quotes from the former president.

Young Communist League member Buti Manamela wrote, "My favourite Mandela quote is: 'Let there be work, bread, water and salt for all'."

Mbulelo Baloyi's favourite quote is, "I therefore place the remaining years of my life in your hands." Mandela made the pledge hours after he was released during his first public address in Cape Town.

Phiwe Mbuyazi's favourite quote is, "If you talk to a man in a language he understands, it goes to his head, but if you talk to a man in his language it goes to his heart."

Gcobani Schalk's Mandela moment was the reconciliation and nation-building stance the father of a new, democratic South Africa adopted and pursued after his release and in his presidency.
