THULANI Sibisi, a Kyokushin Karate team instructor from Ekurhuleni, believes his charges are well prepared for Zimbabwe's Kyokushin Karate Union tournament in Harare on Saturday.

"We have worked very hard for this tournament. The morale in the camp is high and all the fighters are in fine fettle," Sibisi said.

"They are ready to pose a strong challenge to their counterparts."

He said they will send 13 combatants to fight for glory in the competition. This will be the second tournament to be sanctioned by Zimbabwe after a successful one in 2007.

Karatekas from other African countries such as Namibia, Ghana and Swaziland are expected to attend the biannual competition, in which male karatekas will compete in the Under-55kg, U-65kg, U-70kg, U-80kg and open divisions. Female combatants will feature in the U-55kg and U-65kg sections.
