Pirates and Wits leave boots at home

ORLANDO Pirates' hopes of winning the Absa Premiership went up in smoke after they played to yet another goalless draw - this time against BidVest Wits on Saturday.

ORLANDO Pirates' hopes of winning the Absa Premiership went up in smoke after they played to yet another goalless draw - this time against BidVest Wits on Saturday.

In Rustenburg on the same day Platinum Stars notched up a 1-0 win over Santos, who are also out of the championship race.

Luis Renteria scored the only goal. Back to the Pirates-Wits game, it was Bucs' fourth successive goalless draw. They are now in danger of finishing outside the top eight bracket, which could see them missing out on the MTN8.

Players from both teams seemed to have forgotten their scoring boots at home.

Pirates take on AmaZulu at Orlando Stadium on Wednesday, while Wits meet Free State Stars at Charles Mopeli Stadium.

After their win over Santos, Dinaledi hope to finish the season well inside the top eight bracket.

Stars' Stanley Kgatla said: "Our aim is to feature in Wafa Wafa next season."

They play Mamelodi Sundowns at Super Stadium on Wednesday while Santos have a tough one tomorrow against SuperSport United at Athlone Stadium.
