The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has the opportunity to record the life of Semenya after an agreement with the athlete's lawyers.
Sowetan was informed at the weekend that the BBC paid Semenya's lawyers "a substantial amount of money".
Speaking after winning three major awards at the Athletics Gauteng North ceremony in Pretoria on Saturday, Semenya said her lawyers had told her not to talk to the media.
"I'm sorry, my bra, I'm not allowed to speak to the media. Speak to my coach (Michael "Sponge" Seme) on everything you want to know about me."
Seme, who accompanied Semenya to the awards ceremony, said: "The issue of the BBC crew being here has been approved by Caster's lawyers. The BBC are doing a documentary on the life of Caster, which will be shown all over the world soon. For now, the BBC are allowed to video record her but not to interview her."
One of the BBC journalists told Sowetan that it was a great honour to do a documentary on Semenya's life. She described Semenya as a great athlete.
Semenya and Seme returned to South Africa on Friday morning after spending a week in Turkey on holiday.
"I think the holiday in Turkey was organised by the government," Seme said. "Caster is now looking forward to a great 2010 athletics year. She will soon be back in action either in Port Elizabeth or Pretoria."
