Masemola lauds top school

LIMPOPO MEC for education Namane Masemola has urged the high-riding Giyani High School to assist other schools to get good results.

LIMPOPO MEC for education Namane Masemola has urged the high-riding Giyani High School to assist other schools to get good results.

He was speaking during a visit to the school on Wednesday. He had gone there to congratulate principal Edwin Chabalala and his staff of 48 on their excellent Grade 12 results in last year's exams.

He was was accompanied by Lucy Mafenya of the department's Mopani district.

Masemola thanked both the staff and pupils for doing well when the Mopani district generally had bad results.

"When I arrived at 6.30am I was impressed because some pupils were already in class," Masemola said. "That shows how committed to their studies they are."

He urged the pupils to keep up the good work and to be true patriotic cadres.

Masemola said though the school attained an 88,3percent pass rate last year, the results stood out because of their quality.

Out of 167 pupils who wrote Grade 12 last year, 74 passed with university entrance, while 61 obtained college entrance, 13 senior certificates and only 19 failed.
