LONDON - Chelsea will give captain John Terry time off to resolve problems in his personal life if he requires it, according to reports in the British media yesterday.
Terry could fly to Dubai to visit his wife Toni in 10 days, missing the FA Cup last 16 tie against Cardiff City.
The defender has been at the centre of a media storm after allegations he had an affair with Vanessa Perroncel, the girlfriend of former teammate Wayne Bridge, and it remains possible he could be stripped of the England captaincy.
"This is an issue for me and John Terry. You will see the line-up for Cardiff," Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti said. "If he needs a holiday I will give him a holiday."
Premier League leaders Chelsea could only draw 1-1 at relegation-threatened Hull City on Tuesday as they squandered the chance to move four points clear of Manchester United in the title race. Chelsea have 55 points from 24 games with champions United on 53. Third-placed Arsenal, who play at Chelsea at the weekend, are on 49.
While Chelsea's form at Stamford Bridge has been immaculate with just two league points dropped all season, they have been far less impressive away from home. - Sapa-DPA and Reuters
