Machaka bets on Aces to trump Clever Boys

MPUMALANGA Black Aces' attacking midfielder Jacob Machaka is confident that AmaZion will remain in the Absa Premiership next season.

MPUMALANGA Black Aces' attacking midfielder Jacob Machaka is confident that AmaZion will remain in the Absa Premiership next season.

"We are here to stay, the word relegation does not even exist in our vocabulary," Machaka said ahead of today's clash with Bidvest Wits at Puma Stadium in Witbank.

Kickoff is at 7.30pm.

Aces, whose chances of survival were enhanced after Jomo Comos drew with Maritzburg United yesterday, go into tonight's match with a slight advantage after defeating the Clever Boys 1-0 in the first round in Johannesburg, thanks to a goal by Zambian Clifford Mulenga.

"We are in a very dangerous situation, it's not good to be in the relegation zone but we will be out in a matter of days, we just need to win three games," Machaka said.

Machaka, Mulenga, Teboho Mokoena and Mpho Maleka are among the experienced players carrying the hopes of AmaZion.

Striker Calvin Kadi of Wits is hoping to rediscover his appetite for goals in Mpumalanga, where he first made a name for himself . Kadi has rattled the net 10 times in the league.

"It will not be an easy one but we are going there for a win," Kadi said.

Other Wits players to watch include Tefu Mashamaite, Sibusiso Mahlangu and Thando Mngomeni.
