FORMER Bafana Bafana star Doctor Khumalo reckons the five African World Cup qualifiers that featured in the Africa Cup of Nations will put on a great show in the 2010 Fifa World Cup.
This despite a bellow-par performance in the tournament in Angola, with the exception of Ghana, who lost 1-0 to Egypt in Sunday's final. The other four teams at the Afcon that are going to the World Cup were Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Cameroon and Algeria.
"I did not expect one of the big teams like Ivory Coast, Cameroon or Nigeria to win the tournament because the World Cup is in five months' time. The majority of top players did not play to their full potential. They did not want to risk sustaining injuries because they want to play in the first-ever World Cup in Africa," Khumalo said.
"Egypt have one of the greatest teams that has come together for some time, but they also had nothing to lose ."
