TOP Brazilian development soccer coach Felipe Arantes has fallen in love with South Africa, which he predicted would host the best ever World Cup in June.
Arantes is part of the Botafogo team who took part in the 2010 Gauteng Future Champions international Under-17 tournament in Johannesburg, which ended on Saturday.
"It's the first time I have visited South Africa and I'm highly impressed with what I've seen in the seven days that I have been here," Arantes said.
"South Africa is a beautiful country with great people who are always willing to go the extra mile to make you feel (at) home away from home.
"The Botafogo team would like to thank the South Africans for making our stay such a wonderful one. Some of us are now preparing to come back for the Cup.
"I know people in other parts of the world have been rubbishing South Africa, but they must first come here and experience the country for themselves before spreading lies.
"All the teams that participated in this tournament have not had any security challenges, we have been mingling with the locals freely without any danger.
"South Africa is one of the safest countries in the world. What happened to Togo in Angola during the Africa Cup of Nations has absolutely nothing to do with South Africa. People who question South African security are ill-informed, in fact they are wrong because they mislead people of the world.
"We in Brazil are fully behind South Africa and do not have a single doubt that you guys will put up a great show during the World Cup."
