AVOIDING giving direct answers to questions in order to hide the truth has been the practice of many a politician. This has no place in today's political situation in South Africa, or should I say especially at the Maluti-a-Phofung Municipality?

I have lost count of the number of times I have been to the office of the mayor and his MMCs, especially that of sports, arts and culture Jabulani Khumalo. Each time one gets there he or she is met with prevaricating PAs.

The fact is that the mayor has fallen into complete disfavour with locals and has overstayed his welcome. But we are encouraged to see that Cope is organising its internal discord and might be an option.
