Tribe enjoys WC spoils

THE shortage of accommodation in the Rustenburg area has afforded Bakgatla Ba-Kgafela residents a chance to benefit from the Fifa World Cup .

The tribe, under the leadership of Kgosi Nnyalala Pilane will have a chance to welcome guests from all over the world into their homes during the soccer spectacle.

"The idea for these 'Home Stays' came from the provincial tourism department. We have been encouraging people to come forward and register their homes and we are happy with the response," said Mma-Kgosi Lucy Pilane, Pilane's wife.

"What will then happen is that their homes will be assessed and if they are good enough, they will be given certificates, which will be valid until after the World Cup"

She said home owners will be trained to deal with visitors.

"People must realise that we will still have visitors even after the World Cup so they must strive to leave a lasting impression on the visitors. For entertainment, visitors can go to the Mphebatho Museum, where our children will sing traditional Setswana songs for them as well as Bakgatla Gate, Pilanesberg Game Reserve, Kwa-Maritane and Sun City."
