Chansa returns to the Buccaneers' ship after his contract with Swedish giants Helsingborgs IF expired at the weekend, a club he joined from Pirates in 2007.
"I was not happy with their new offer, hence I decided to come back to Pirates and contribute to the success of the club," Chansa said.
At one stage Chansa was courted by English Premiership side Everton but the deal fell through after he suffered an injury.
A former Power Dynamos player in Zambia, Chansa was recruited by Helsingborgs IF after impressing their coach, Stuart Baxter, who has also guided Bafana.
"I thought I'd have a better chance of catching the eye of a top European team at Pirates because everybody is focussing on South Africa because of the 2010 World Cup," he said.
Chansa, who represented Zambia at the Africa Cup of Nations in Angola, will be unveiled by Pirates at their open media day this morning.
"It feels good to be back at Pirates, I love the team and I know the supporters love me too. I have been following developments in South Africa and I know what is happening."
Chansa was welcomed at Pirates yesterday by club executive Floyd "Jomo" Mbele, who announced that the player had signed a three-year deal.
"We started the negotiations with Isaac a few weeks ago and now everything has been finalised.
"I have already applied for his work permit. We have tried our utmost to reinforce the areas the coach {Rudi Krol} has highlighted.
"Isaac has been with us before and is familiar with our set-up. As for the six remaining games, we'll put up a big fight to win them."
