Khanyi Mbau bares her soul to listeners

WHEN Khanyi Mbau's BMW Z4 screeched to a halt there was commotion at the Primedia offices in Sandton yesterday.

WHEN Khanyi Mbau's BMW Z4 screeched to a halt there was commotion at the Primedia offices in Sandton yesterday.

The drama queen was running 20 minutes late for a prime time interview with Talk Radio 702's Redi Direko.

But there was still time for her to be a diva - posing for pictures and soaking up the admiration of onlookers.

They jostled for the best spot so they could take photos of her before she disappeared into the studio, where Direko and her producers were waiting.

She looked stylish in big sunglasses, blinged-out tight jeans and stilettos - all in typical Mbau-style.

Sipping coffee, a relaxed Mbau sat across Direko, ready for a grilling. And she answered every question.

"I'm a celebrity. I've developed a certain way of bringing glitz and glamour. It's like bringing Hollywood into the township. This is a character I put out. I'm no role model," she said.

She loves attention, she confessed.

"Anyone who says he or she does not like attention is lying. We are all attention-seekers. If someone does not notice your new hairstyle, don't you get bothered?"
