The offering, which is being managed by Park Village Auctions (PVA), will be accompanied by a variety of brand name cameras and accessories and so on, and arises from the liquidation of a major distributor.
Together with the pens, which are bound to attract considerable interest, there are Konica, Minolta and Olympus cameras and accessories and Papermate pens.
The sale, which clearly reflects the impact of the economic downturn, is possibly the largest of its kind on record according to PVA spokesperson LeRoy Augustyn.
PVA invites offers by no later than 5pm, Friday February 12, in sealed envelopes (together with a 10percent refundable deposit), at Park Village head office, unit number 10, Ferndale Mews North, Corner Oak and Dover Rds, Ferndale, Randburg. The liquidator reserves the right not to accept the highest bid or any other offer.
Says Augustyn: "This is an opportunity for all manner of private individuals, companies, dealers, distributors, retailers and so on to acquire these highly rated brand name products at auction prices. We anticipate a major turnout on the day and a lively auction for this extensive offering."
