Doping ban for DeRosier

COLORADO - American sprinter Philippe DeRosier has been suspended for six months after failing a drugs test at a meeting in Turkey last year.

The 26-year-old DeRosier will be eligible to compete again next month because the United States Anti-doping Agency (Usada) waited five months before announcing that he had tested positive for the banned stimulant methylhexanamine.

DeRosier's urine sample tested positive at the EAA Permit Cezmi Or Memorial meet on June 13 in Istanbul. His suspension started on August 13.

Usada said DeRosier failed the test after taking a supplement that contained the banned drug. It did not say what the supplement was.

Besides the six-month suspension, DeRosier forfeits his results from the competition in Turkey. - Sapa-AFP
