HE LIKED the late Michael Jackson's dance moves and wanted to make his dream to master them and teach them to the youth to come true.
No wonder Nelson Simango, 46, is now "aka Michael Jackson" because of his dance style.
He lives in Winterveldt, north of Pretoria, where he is planning to impart his skills to local youths so that they can "stop doing crime and abusing drugs".
Simango is multi-talented. He is also an athlete with several gold, silver and bronze medals under his belt.
His talent as an athlete was noticed about 21 years ago while he was still at Mphye Secondary School in Jackals village on the dusty side of Winterveldt. He later progressed to long-distance running.
Simango has run more than 100 marathons in East London, Cape Town, Swaziland, the Soweto Nedbank marathon and recently the City to City, which is run from Centurion to Johannesburg.
This gifted man, who is also a correctional officer at Odi Correctional Centre, is his own trainer, coach and manager.
In addition Simango is a music composer, author and singer. He is busy completing his 12-track album, with a mix of gospel, jazz, disco and pop music tracks.
He often entertains inmates and colleagues at the correctional centre with his dancing during his spare time.
Simango has earned himself the very big name of "Michael Jackson" and is prepared to be equal to the name by building an art school in Winterveldt, where he will help the new generation with music and dancing.
His new album with a DVD is already on sale in music stores.
