Directed by Colin Law and Dean Roberts, and musical direction by Du Preez Strauss, the production is a long-awaited revival of the 70s smash hit and the longest running musical revue in South African history.
The production opens for a limited five-week season.
It is based on the 2006 Off-Broadway show at the Zipper Theatre in New York.
Dynamic and sparkling new musical arrangements by the talented Du Preez Strauss, performed by a stellar cast from the pop and musical theatre world, ensures a show that will re-awaken the popularity and appeal of Brel's music for the initiated - and introduce his exquisite songs to new audiences.
The cast is headed by British singer Chrissy Caine, who is joined by veteran performer and iconic South African actor Graham Clarke, David Chevers and Daneel Uys.
The original Off-Broadway had its debut in 1968 at The Village Gate Theater in Greenwich Village and ran for more than four years.
The revue, consisting of about 25 songs, is typically performed by four vocalists - two male and two female.
Brel contributed most of the music and the lyrics, with French to English translations, provided by Eric Blau.
On till March 13.
