YOUNG Lucy Lekgethe is one of a few teenagers who can brag about being friends with Miss South Africa Nicole Flint.
She has met her twice in a month and each time Flint has been attentive, spending time chatting to her.
In December, Flint fulfilled Lucy's dream. Battling cancer, Lucy told the Reach for a Dream Foundation that her dream was to meet Miss SA.
Her wish was granted on December 13 when Flint was crowned the most beautiful woman in the land.
Lucy was there to witness it and was treated like a queen for the day as part and parcel of her wish. Her complete makeover included a gown presented to her by DJ and presenter Nicole Fox.
"I had my make-up and hair done by the team who beautified all of the Miss South Africa contestants. I looked so beautiful. I felt so special," said Lucy.
Lucy spent the night at Sun City before being whisked back to Soweto, where she received a bone marrow transplant on December 17 to treat Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Flint visited Lucy again yesterday at Chris Hani- Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto where she is being treated.
Lucy was up and about and ready to go home.
Flint said: "Lucy is very strong of heart and she has managed well to get through this difficult time in her young life.
"She is a wonderful example to her peers and anyone else in her situation.
