A MONTH after relocating to Gauteng, Sifiso Vilakazi says the move was not aimed at attracting the attention of Bafana Bafana coach Carlos Alberto Parreira.
There is also no acrimony between the striker and Ajax Cape Town, his former team.
Rather, the move was motivated by his desire to be near his family in Johannesburg after years in the Cape, Vilakazi says.
"I am not disappointed with being continually overlooked for Bafana Bafana - some things will never change.
"For all these years that I've been playing professionally, I've never received any recognition. So if it ever happens I will appreciate it."
The 30-year-old has fitted in well with BidVest Wits and has played in their past two Absa Premiership matches - a goalless draw with Jomo Cosmos and a 2-1 win over Lamontville Golden Arrows.
"The approach is very similar to what I'm used to, and I do not foresee any problems fitting in. It's looking positive for us and we have not abandoned our hope to be competitive," Vilakazi says.
Wits face Mpumalanga Black Aces on February 3 .
