ANCYL president Julius Malema has warned: "Any teacher who sleeps with a child must be exposed and dealt with."

ANCYL president Julius Malema has warned: "Any teacher who sleeps with a child must be exposed and dealt with."

Malema was visiting several schools on the West Rand yesterday to promote the "back to school" campaign.

"These are your children, do not see boyfriends and girlfriends in these children. It is irresponsible for a teacher to sleep with a child.

"Teachers who sleep with school children are a disgrace to the profession. Any teacher who does that must be exposed and dealt with accordingly. When you look at these children you must see your own child," Malema said.

He encouraged pupils to expose teachers who abuse them sexually to the principals and the department of education.

"And if they fail to take action come to the ANC Youth League."

He told the pupils to fight teenage pregnancy by refusing to submit to sexual advances in exchange for material things.

"We must fight teenage pregnancy. We know you come from poor families and you could be depending on somebody to support you, but do not surrender yourself.

"There is no grave for a person who died from hunger or poverty, the little that you have at home will help you to survive."

He pleaded with pupils to look after each other. "We African children are able to take care of each other, we are one big family. Let us share and do not make jokes about those that do not have food."

Malema castigated schoolboys who aspire to be thugs. "We do not need young boys who come to school with knives and smoke dagga.

"If you are not prepared to learn go look for the nearest shebeen and stay there."

He said the ANCYL would persuade President Jacob Zuma to keep his promise of free education from primary school until junior degree level.
