Cool Canibus coming to SA

The American, b orn Germaine Williams in 1974 in Kingston, Jamaica, will perform at the Bassline in Newtown, Johannesburg, on April 2. Followers of rap and aspiring MCs are expected to fill the intimate venue .

He has worked with all the big names in hip-hop including Common, Jay-Z and Wyclef Jean, who produced his successful album Second Round K.O .

Canibus delivers his music eloquently and emphatically. He made his first official appearance on a track with Ras Kass and Heltah Skeltah on the Rhyme and Reason Soundtrack titled Uni-4-orm. He began rhyming in the mid 1990s and by 1995, he had formed a duo called T.H.E.M. (The Heralds of Extreme Metaphors) with Atlanta rapper Central Intelligence. The collaboration opened many doors for him.

Working with well-known rappers LL Cool J, Method Man, Redman and DMX, earned Canibus an invite from Wyclef Jean to tour the world.

His debut album Can-I-Bus was released in September 1998.
