Company donates R10000 to needy kids

ORPHANS from Masoyi Home-Based Care were excited yesterday when a major company donated R10000 for their upkeep.

The donation by the Pretorious Group of Companies to the orphans in Hazyview was part of the Acts of Kindness Campaign, an initiative by a local radio station that challenged companies to get involved and help those in need.

Firms that rose to the occasion included BHP Billiton, Eduardo Construction, Old Mutual, Pretorius Group Of Companies and Sasol Secunda.

They teamed up with MpowerFM, the Nelspruit-based radio station, in a drive to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate.

MpowerFM spokesperson Louisa van Wyk said yesterday that a number of charities were selected by the participating companies and that MpowerFM had been visiting them over the past few weeks to hand over their donations.

Excited about the donation, Masoyi Home-Based Care director Florence Mbokazi said: "At this stage we are only assisting 114 households every month. Every donation we receive goes straight to the children because we are there for them to help improve their lives."
