RHYTHM CITY star Thembalethu Ntuli is over the moon after passing his matric exams.

Ntuli, 18, portrays the character of an 11-year-old street kid known as Pule, who has been adopted by Kilowatt Club owner Suffocate (Mduduzi Mabaso).

Born at Vosloorus in Ekurhuleni, Thembalethu believes that hard work pays, and he plans to study film production.

"I am so excited about this. It was not easy balancing acting and school. Since my acting schedule was very tight, I used to study until 3am. I really surprised myself with the results."

Thembalethu, a pupil at Dawnview High School in Primrose, Germiston, said he passed his matric to honour his parents.

"I wanted to take the pressure off my parents. A lot of people were watching if I would pass after seeing me on television. My parents were very strict and wanted me to do well."

Thembalethu's diminutive stature has not stopped him from achieving his big dreams.

"I don't feel sorry for myself. I was created by God for a reason, and I don't think it's a mistake that I was born this short. I am mature and my friends and parents treat me like an adult."

Thembalethu scored a D in mathematics, C in English, B in art, C in business studies, D in computer studies, D in Afrikaans and C in life orientation.
