Cars and trucks go for good prices

PARK Village Auctions kicks off 2010 with great car and truck bargains.

PARK Village Auctions kicks off 2010 with great car and truck bargains.

The first car sales take place on January 13 at 10.30am at the Bank Repossession Centre, 221 Main Road, Martindale, Johannesburg.

Then on January 20 sales take place at the Bank Asset Disposal Centre, Prolecon Road, Prolecon, Johannesburg, at 11.30am.

On January 27 sales commence at the Nasrec showgrounds in Landbou Street, Johannesburg, at 10.30am.

About 750 cars will be on sale, said Park Village Auctions (PVA) spokesperson Clive Lazarus.

"The fact that we have scheduled three sales at the start of the year indicates there will be no let-up in the flow of quality genuine repo vehicles to the auction market," he said.

"These early sales are expected to see a strong demand from small to medium enterprises as well as student runabouts, family sedans, mom's taxis and executive vehicles."

Lazarus said some idea of price patterns can be gained from their vehicle sales late last year.

"The first car sales will set the tone for the rest of the year, but we expect it to be pretty much the same as in 2009, with demand remaining strong right across the spectrum and with PVA better geared to meet that demand," Lazarus said.

The first PVA truck sale for 2010 will take place at Nasrec on January 28 at 10.30am.

PVA operations manager LeRoy Augustyn said there would be good quality repos on offer.

"There will be about 100 lots available, including an assortment of trucks, trailers, side tippers, truck tractors etc," Augustyn said.

"The inventory may still change before the sale, but at the moment it includes Mercedes Benz, International, Freightliner, Iveco, Toyota, Tata, Daihatsu, Volvo, Scania, Ford, Mazda, Colt, Isuzu and more.

"Current statistics indicate that while new truck sales have stabilised, their prices have increased and auctions of quality stock therefore continue to offer the perfect opportunity to acquire additional trucking and transport capacity at attractive, reduced prices."
