Community tormented by killers

THE community of Bulwer Farm in Tugela on KwaZulu-Natal's North Coast is living in fear.

Ongoing and unsolved killings in the area are making people very nervous.

Locals are also angry that the killers who shot two people on Christmas Day and New Year's Day have not been arrested.

They say another person was gunned down in November.

Many people are afraid to speak up and are worried because police have not made a breakthrough.

Two men were arrested last week but were later released because of a lack of evidence.

Police from the New Ark police station confirm the killings. They say they are investigating.

"We were forced to release the men," police spokesperson Malusi Ngubane says. "We appeal to the community to come forward with information that might help us."

The community also accuse local councillor Dumisani Ndimande o f not protecting them.

" He really needs to pull up his socks and serve his community," Lindiwe Majola says.

Ndimande, an ANC councillor in the area, says he is only aware of the New Year's Day killing.
