But Khuse could be playing mind games considering that Amakhosi still appear to be in the title race, thanks to their recovery.
They are third in the standings, six points adrift of leaders and defending champions SuperSport United and three behind the marauding Mamelodi Sundowns.
Despite their resurgence, Khuse admitted to Sowetan yesterday that it would take a miracle for the two Tshwane giants to drop points and allow them back in the race.
"By the look of things the race is between Sundowns and United and it would require both of them to drop points for us to have any chance of winning the league.
"We must make sure that we win our matches and put them under pressure, though."
Khuse also lamented the number of points they dropped, which saw Chiefs in a precarious position on the log at one stage of the campaign.
Some of Chiefs's ignominious defeats were at the hands of unfancied Maritzburg United and Bidvest Wits and their cause was also hampered by drawing too many matches.
"We dropped a number of points unnecessarily and we sometimes look back and wonder where we would be on the log had we collected (those) points. Not taking anything away from some of the teams we lost to, but we should have done better. The reason could be that the players had not found their footing at that time and also trying to adapt to the techniques of our new coach (Vladimir Vermezovic)."
Khuse, however, does not have good news for teams they will play against in their remaining six matches.
"We are not going to be sheep to the slaughter just because we are out of the title race. We will fight until the last match of the season."
The former Amakhosi linkman also bemoaned the long January break that will see the league commencing on February 3.
"I think the break could really affect our rhythm, but we will continue to work hard at training to keep momentum going."
