Pieterse said about 15percent of power had still not been restored yesterday but should be completed by this morning.
Tension almost got to boiling point at the Alexandra substation on Sunday after residents were plunged into darkness following the destruction of a substation by fire on Saturday.
City Power managing director Silas Zimu had to cut short his leave to personally attend to repairs on Sunday.
Many residents gathered at the substation vowing not to leave until power was restored.
