Cosatu warns Sun City

THE Congress of South African Trade Unions has threatened to organise protests at Sun City because of racism.

THE Congress of South African Trade Unions has threatened to organise protests at Sun City because of racism.

This after a white assistant beverage unit manager received only a final warning after telling three black employees they worked like pigs.

"Cosatu take it that blacks at Sun City are nothing but cheap animals in the eyes of management and white racists," the secretary of the federation's Moses Kotane sub-region, Madito wa ga Molebalwa, said yesterday.

"Cosatu has vowed to make Sun City a pilot project in to totally rooting out racism."

Molebalwa demanded the immediate suspension of the assistant manager and a review of the case, failing which it would mobilise a blockade of the N4 to Sun City.

"Cosatu has noticed that whites at Sun City are not prepared to recognise their black colleagues as people."

A white employee was also given a warning after referring to black workers as baboons last month. Cosatu has lodged a complaint.
